Durante los últimos años, una nueva generación de cineastas británicos ha emergido. Muchos de ellos han sido aclamados en festivales de  cine, con películas  enfocadas en problemas sociales y familiares. El último miembro de esta nueva ola es Scott Graham, cuyo debut se estrenó en la competencia del Festival de Cine de Torino, y que está basado en su corto homónimo del 2007.

The Italian fiction films that have participated in the Torino Film Festival have failed to impress. Some of them will probably have box office success but they are not films suited for a big film festival. The Italians also have the largest part of the official international competition with three films out of sixteen.

For the majority of the western audience, films from India are usually related with Bollywood themes, musicals, romantic comedies and silly action films. Fortunately there still exists a different way of filmmaking that will appeal to more eclectic tastes. I.D. is the debut film by the Indian director Kamal K.M. and it participated in the official competition of the 30th Torino Film Festival.
