Tras ver Way Beyond (2021) de Pauline Julier, sobre la construcción del nuevo FCC (Future Circular Collider), sucesor del ahora legendario LHC (Large Hadron Collider), que ha confirmado, en cierto modo, algunas teorías matemáticas sobre la génesis de nuestro universo y la composición de la materia, me sentí inmediatamente atraído por esta visión positivista del futuro, de la gestión de riesgos y la planificación cuidadosa de este inmenso proyecto que posiblemente cambiará nuestra comprensión de todo lo que sabemos hoy.

Detrás de la nítida cinematografía del último documental de Aliaksei Paluyan, Courage (Alemania, 2021), se encuentra la historia de un grupo de teatro clandestino en Minsk, que sobrevivió a los tiempos de la dictadura de Alexander Lukashenko por más de 20 años, en medio de una elección fraudulenta para prolongar aún más al último  régimen comunista en Europa.

As part of the special screenings, the documentary Songs of the Living (Les Chant des vivant, 2021) by French director Cécile Allegra was seen in the inaugural and online setting of the 52nd edition of the Swiss festival Visions du Réel. This new work adheres to the interests expressed by the filmmaker in her previous documentaries, insofar as it addresses social issues with a clear political and commitment component.

VISIONS DU RÉEL 2021: CORTOS DE MOONA PENNANEN, JULIE RAMAGE Y CRISTINA MOTTA

Esta edición online del festival Visions du Reel tiene una competencia de cortos y mediometrajes que permite acceder a algunos trabajos, que si bien son realizados bajo un influjo muy distinto entre sí, deja entrever el toque político de esta edición, entendido esto como una aproximación crítica a diversos hechos contemporáneos de la realidad. No solo se trata de un festival de “cine de lo real”, sino de uno que alberga el espíritu conflictivo y decisivo de estos tiempos, de los efectos y climas de la pandemia, de periodos de disputas discursivas y estéticas.
